Herb L. Yones, 81, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, September 11, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 21, 1931 to George Luther and Dulcie Ruth (Holmes) in the Brown Community. Herb was raised in the Shawnee area and attended Shawnee Public Schools. He was a lifelong resident of the Tecumseh/Shawnee area.
At the age of 16 joined the U.S. Air Force and served for 4 years.
He married the love of his life, Patricia Stevens on February 26, 1954 at Blackburn Chapel.
Herb worked for many years as a District Manager of Homoco Oilfield Supply, in West Texas and Woodward, Oklahoma, but was most notably the owner/operator of Herbs Auto Sales in Tecumseh for over 30 years.
He was a member of the Tecumseh Masonic Lodge #69 and was a 32nd Degree Mason member of the Scottish Rite Free Masonry in McAlester, Oklahoma. As a member of the Tecumseh Masonic Lodge he held every office there was to hold in the lodge.
Herb enjoyed fishing, golf and playing poker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Ollie Yones and William ""Bill"" Yones. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 1/2 years, Patricia Yones, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Jim Rayburn, of Dallas, Texas; 2 sons and daughter-in-law, Michael S. Yones, of Oklahoma City and Joel L. and Sally Yones, of Prague; 6 grandchildren, Christopher Yones and wife, Cameron, Patrick Yones and wife, Shelby, Steven Yones, Carrie Reddin, Taylor Hoover and husband, Collin, and Alexandria Broussard and husband, Andy; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, Friday, September 13, 2013 and continue through service time. Family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2013 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Sparks of New Beginnings Church officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
