Rev. James Vernon McCalip was born to Homer and Ollie (Ward) McCalip on September 16, 1928 in Oklahoma City, OK. James went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, October 8, 2021 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
He is now with his beloved Queen, Faye Graham McCalip; his daughter Rená Jett; granddaughter, Tammy Baker; grandson, Kerry Carter; son-in-law Paul Jett, and the grandchildren who were miscarried before birth.
James was also preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Leroy, Floyd and Kenny McCalip; 4 sisters Leota Powers, Lovie Drain, Jeraldine Parnell and Ruby Mize.
Together with his queen, James will be waiting for his children; Shelia (Donnie) Baker, Ramona Jett, Pam (Henry) Carter, son-in-law David Jett, and Terri (Tommy) Nail; grandchildren, Shadawn Baker, LaChelle (Jett) Call, Kimberly (Jett) Fest, Keith Carter, April (Baker) Smart, Shane Jett, Eva (Carter) Holden, TaRena (Nail) Reece, Kandace (Jett) Hunt, Tasha (Nail) Alves and Douglas Jett, and their spouses, children and grandchildren; sister, Pat Mize; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2021 with family gathering from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., to greet friends and family at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Sharon Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma with Reverend Carl Parson of Hale Station, Tulsa, OK and Reverend Aaron Brock of Lighthouse Holiness Church, Prague, OK officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
