Carolyn Sue Estes Holmes

holmes-cs

September 15, 1949 ~ March 16, 2013

Carolyn "Sue" Estes Holmes went home to be with her Savior on March 16, 2013.

Sue was born on September 15, 1949 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Roy T. and Rose Busby Estes.

She graduated from Crooked Oak High School, received an A.A.S. degree from Rose State College, and attended the University of Central Oklahoma. Most of her working career {approximately thirty three years} was in higher education {Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and Rose State College}.

She was an active member of New Life Assembly of God Church. Over the years, Sue loved teaching Sunday School classes, singing and playing the organ/piano in church services. She and Bob loved children and taught children's church in previous years.

Sue was an avid reader, but one of her greatest pleasures was cooking - - especially baking desserts! Also, she and Betty truly enjoyed their special outings together and were known in the family and among friends for their fun and frequent coupon-shopping/lunch trips together!

Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and always tried to "be there" for those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Estes and Rose Jones; sister, Tommie Ryan; niece, Cheri Guillory; and nephew, Ronald Starling.

Sue is survived by her loving husband of forty four years, Bobby A. Holmes; son, Robert Holmes and wife Tena of Del City; sister, Helen Guillory of Houston, Texas; brother, Sam Estes and wife Shannon of Shelby, Alabama; sister/mother, Betty Springer and husband/brother, Clayton Springer of Del City; one granddaughter, Kylee Stetson and husband Thomas; one grandson, Christopher Holmes; and one special great-granddaughter, Jayden Stetson; mother-in-law, Dorothy Holmes; and several nieces and nephews, and numerous special friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Toma, Vickie and staff, as well as Frontier Hospice for their excellent care.

Sue's family will receive friends at ForCarolyn "Sue" (Estes) Holmesd Funeral Service on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services for Sue will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at New Life Assembly of God Church.

Interment will follow at Brown Cemetery in Tecumseh.
