November 17, 1932 ~ April 5, 2020

Robert Cordell Cearley, 87 of Tecumseh passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020 in Shawnee at home surrounded by his family.

He was born November 17, 1932 in Decatur, Georgia and was raised in Bristow Oklahoma.

Robert would meet his future wife Jo by corresponding by mail while he was in the US Army. Through their letters Robert fell in love and were married on December 24, 1955 in Bristow, Oklahoma. They were married for 59 years and now they are together again Forever.

Robert and Jo began their family in Oklahoma City and moved to Tecumseh in the 1970's.

Robert served in the U.S. Army and was A Korean Veteran. After discharging from the Army in December 1955 he and his new bride moved to Oklahoma City where he started working at Fred Jones Ford as a Boring Bar operator for 24 years. After retiring from Fred Jones Ford He and his wife owned and operated Roberts DX on the corner of Highway 9 & Broadway in Tecumseh. During those years Robert bowled in numerous leagues, traveled and competed in many tournaments, bowled a 299 (darn 10 pin), went by many bowling names like Red, Roho, Ol' Pro, Legend and of course Bob, just to name a few. Robert also worked with the Youth Bowling Association as a coach where he taught many children to bowl including his children. In 2004 he was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. Robert was bowling in a league at Shawnee Bowl all the way up to his passing. When he wasn't bowling, he was fishing or mowing with his riding mower.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jo Cearley in 2014.

Robert is survived by his brother, Carey Cearley and his wife Dorothy of OKC; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Chris Hilditch of Shawnee, OK; 2 sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby Cearley of Choctaw, OK and Kevin Cearley and Belinda of Midwest City, OK; 7 grandchildren, Sandon Hilditch, Jessica Hilditch, Tasha Harris, Allona Thomas, Arran Cearley, Tarra Shoemaker and Megan Harris; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

A drive by visitation will be held under the South Portico of Cooper Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 16, 2020. A drive in funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Shawnee Bowl parking lot, 701 N. Harrison Avenue in Shawnee with Brother Mike Collyer of Pink Baptist Church, Pink, Oklahoma officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. Due to the COVID 19 virus all attendees are asked to stay in their vehicles or join us on Cooper Funeral Home Facebook page for live streaming of the service.
