Aubrey “Monk” Butler, age 87, left his family to join his family in Heaven on Saturday morning, February 2, 2019, after a long illness.
He was born in Paducah, Texas to Jesse James Butler and Myrtle Elizabeth (Carter) Butler and was the youngest of 8 Butler children.
Monk enlisted in the Army at age 19. He proudly served his country in combat service during the Korean War as a member the famous “Fighting 45th Infantry Division.” Later, he retired military civilian from Tinker Air Force Base with high honors. Monk married Thelda Joy Copeland and together they have a loving and devoted family of 3 children; Joy, Robert and William, including, 8 grandsons; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Sparks, Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church and Robert Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
