March 2, 1957 ~ February 28, 2021

Mary Denise Belt was born on March 2, 1957, to Murel and Betty Wise in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She passed away peacefully from this life on February 28, 2021 in Oklahoma City just two days shy of her 64th birthday. She was a fun-loving mother, sister, friend, Aunt Niecy, and Granny.

Mom never met a stranger. Her smile lit up the room and her laughter was contagious. She loved flowers, enjoyed gardening, watching westerns movies, and listening to Elvis Presley. Mom had many jobs over the course of her life, however waiting tables and custodial work were the ones she was most proud of. During her time as a waitress, she was at her best. She enjoyed talking and joking with her customers making everyone her friend. She truly loved being around people. For many years she worked tirelessly for Mid-Del schools as head custodian. She took great pride in cleaning the school and genuinely cared for the staff and students. She kept snacks and candy in her office and would often reward the students for a job well done or just because she wanted to. This is where she was first known as Ms. Dee and everyone loved her. She loved that the children would even celebrate her and Dr. Seuss together in March as they shared a birthday.Mary Denise Belt was born on March 2, 1957, to Murel and Betty Wise in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mom was strong, spontaneous, independent and a little crazy with an ‘I do what I want, when I want & how I want’ frame of mind. Even at the end, mom did it her way. She spent her last evening on this Earth having her girls make call after call so that she could say one last I love you to everyone she could think of. Next, she gathered us around and asked a prayer to be said over her. Then she was ready to go to heaven to see her mom. She missed her so much.

Above all mom loved being a granny the very most. She made sure everyone she met heard about her grandbabies. A spontaneous dance was created every time a new grandchild was announced. She made each of them feel special. She took so much pride in being a granny that she just started introducing herself as Granny. She ended nearly every phone call or visit with I Love you whole bunches!

Mom, Denise, Granny, Ms. Dee, Aunt Niecy, however you knew her she is unforgettable and will be forever missed.

Come-and-go viewing and visitation will be from Noon-8pm on Friday, March 5th at Ford Funeral Service in Midwest City. A service honoring her life will be at 10am on Saturday, March 6th at Oak Crest Church of Christ with burial following at Brown Cemetery in Pink, OK.
