George Baker, 85, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in Shawnee. He was born December 17, 1932 to Isaac and Leona (Saddler) Baker near McAlester, Oklahoma.
George attended school; in Blocker, Oklahoma. He lived in Eugene, Oregon, Sacramento, CA for 17 years before settling in Shawnee in 1971 where he has since lived.
He married Flora “Jean” Botello on April 21, 1951 in McAlester, Oklahoma.
George recently worked for Belshe Trailers as an Assistant Foreman, but worked as mechanic/welder fabricator for the majority of his adult life.
George was an active member of the Living Love Christian Center in Shawnee, where he played the guitar. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing music, especially the mandolin and the guitar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Allen Drake Baker; and brother, Floyd Baker.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 67 years, Jean Baker of the home; 2 daughters, Kathy Jean and Randy Stuckey of Oregon and Janice Marie and Dennis Wade of Shawnee, OK; 1 son, Kem and Sharon Baker of Sacramento, CA; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; 2 sisters, Nora Martin and Pauline Roberts, both of New Mexico; special nephew, Ernesto and Maria Botello of Moore, OK; special great nephew; 2 sisters-in-law, Sylvia Stovall and Marsha Botello; and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 30, 2018 and continue through service time. Service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2018 at Living Love Christian Center in Shawnee with Reverend Mark Guinn officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
