Gary Keith McCabe, 65 of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021, in Shawnee.
He was born November 25, 1956, to Ralph and Ollie (Isaacs) McCabe in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Gary was raised in Bethel Acres and graduated from Bethel High School in 1975. He also attended Gordon Cooper Area Vocational-Technical School receiving certification in Electricity and Basic CNC Machine Tools. Throughout his life, he lived in Bethel, Huntington Beach, California, Meeker, Edmond, and most recently in Shawnee with his daughter and her family.
Gary worked in the oilfield as a driller for Bodard and Hale earlier in life, but spent most of his life working as an electrical apprentice.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping and time spent outdoors, working puzzles, raising beagles, and playing Wii golf. Gary especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; they were the focal point of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Carolyn McCabe.
Gary is survived by his two children, daughter Jenny and husband Michael Affentranger, son Luke and wife Darcie McCabe of Norman; sisters Marilyn Loftis of Oklahoma City and Karen and husband Denis “PeeWee” Taron of Tecumseh; brothers Stephen and wife Cassie McCabe of Meeker and Jeffery and wife JoAnne McCabe of Shawnee; grandchildren Marlee and Toby Affentranger and Lucy McCabe. He is also survived by his two stepchildren, Cyone and Andrew Harris and Jerry “Randy” and Nicole Madrid; step-grandchildren Aubrey McClendon and Boston and Fletcher Harris.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 9, 2021, and continue through service time. Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December, 10, 2021, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Matt Porter of Victory Family Church officiating. Burial will follow at Blackburn Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
