Herbert Melot, 93, resident of Bethel Acres passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 at his home.
He was born September 28, 1929 to Jerome and Anna (Bertrand) Melot in Wanette, Oklahoma.
Herbert was raised in Wanette and attended Crossroads School in Wanette through the 8th grade.
He joined the U.S. Army on March 28, 1951 and proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged on December 27, 1952.
Herbert married Elwynna “Sue” Melot on December 31, 1953 in Purcell, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2013.
He started working at an early age as an Auto Body Technician and for many years owned and operated his own body shop repair.
Herbert enjoyed farming, gardening and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elwynna “Sue” Melot; parents, Jerome and Anna Melot; son, David Melot; grandson, Storm O’Brien; brother, Roy; sisters, Edna, Ruth, Thelma and Vera.
Those left to cherish his memory are 2 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Jerry and Gwen Melot of Shawnee, OK, Don and Kim Melot of Shawnee, OK and Tina Melot of Ada, OK; daughter, Karen Southers of Shawnee, OK; 11grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 2, 2022 with family present from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to greet friends and family at Cooper Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be 10:00 a.m., October 3, 2022 at Bethel Cemetery in Bethel Acres, OK with Reverend Larry Townsend, Bethel Acres Assembly officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
