Blanche Hudson was a Christmas baby, born December 25, 1922 to Daniel and Martha (Taylor) Kesler, the ninth child born to the couple. Her birth took place in the family farm house near Trousdale, Oklahoma and she lived there with her family until she was married.
She met the love of her life, Fay Hudson, when he was teaching at Ivy, a one room school across the road from where the Keslers lived. They were married April 23, 1938 at Sulphur, Oklahoma and were lifelong residents of southern Pottawatomie County except for three years during World War II when they moved to California to build troop transport ships.
After the war ended they moved back to Oklahoma and Fay began teaching in Wanette. Since they had married before she had finished high school, she completed her classwork there, graduating in 1953. They had two daughters and she enjoyed many hours making them new clothes. They moved to Asher in 1960 where Fay was school superintendent; she worked in the school office, and attended many basketball and baseball all games. When they moved the ranch in 1983, she would help Fay feed their cattle. She kept busy canning and cooking vegetables from their garden.
Blanche liked to travel and meet her friends at a local café or in their home for coffee. She always enjoyed a good game of Chinese checkers or moon, and watching Thunder games. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Asher, Diamond K Kiwanis in Shawnee, Pottawatomie County Cattleman’s Association and Pottawatomie County Retired Teachers Association.
Blanche was kind, unselfish, and devoted to her family – a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
She needed extra care during the last years of her life and had many special caregivers. They include Brenda Kettler, main caregiver, Ashley Hobbs, Angie Hobbs and Pat Samples. They not only took care of her needs but did it in a loving, caring way making her feel special.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fay of 77 years; her parents, Daniel and Martha (Taylor) Kesler; brothers, Otho, Woodrow and Clarence Kesler; sisters, Edith Dawson, Edna Taylor and Goldie Chastain; and special son-in-law, Don Fowler.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Martha Sharon Gray of Asher, OK and LaSaundra Fowler of Moore, OK; two grandsons, Todd Scott of Seattle, Washington and Kip Fowler of Moore, OK; great-granddaughter, LaChelle Flom and husband Scott; great-great-granddaughter, Kendall Simpson of Moore, OK; as well as nephews, nieces; and other relatives and friends.
