Audrey Celestean Barnes, age 87, of Asher, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 in Seminole.
She was born August 7, 1930 in Marietta, OK to Earl and Vinita (Sanders) Cooper.
Celeste grew up in Asher and graduated from Asher High School. She lived in Tecumseh for a number of years.
Celeste attended East Central, O.B.U., and Neff Business College. She attained a Bachelor’s Degree and was a Certified Public Accountant.
Celeste married Dallas Wayne Barnes July 20, 1949 in Asher.
She was a bookkeeper for the Sonic from the first day it started and was a CPA for Sonic Computer Services for many years. Celeste also worked for Walsh McGehee and Robertson for several years.
She was a faithful member of the Avoca Church of Christ and faithfully served the Lord. Most importantly, she will be remembered for always being a leader for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill Cooper and wife Jeannie, Thomas Cooper, and James Cooper; and sister, Modell Brock and husband Jack.
Celeste is survived by her husband, Dallas Barnes; daughter, Christy (Barnes) Dickerson; grandsons, Chad Dickerson, Todd Dickerson and wife, Andee; great grandchildren, Bradford and Brady Dickerson; sisters, Jenean Cooper of FL and Donna and Jim Newell of TX; sisters in law, Judy Cooper of AR and Ruth Cooper of OK; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2018 and continue through service time. Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2018 at Avoca Church of Christ with Terry Newell officiating. Burial will follow at Avoca Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
