Private graveside services for Geneva Mae Wilburn, 94, of Ada were held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Swan Hill Cemetery. Her grandson, Kyle Cantrell conducted the service.
Mrs. Wilburn passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at her home. She was born August 28, 1926 in Maud, Oklahoma to Charles Hobart and Beulah Tiffin Plumlee. She graduated from Maud High School and the Oklahoma Baptist Hospital Nursing School in 1947. During World War II, Geneva was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps.
She married C. M. “Dick” Wilburn April 10, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Fittstown, OK. He preceded her in death January 1, 2007. Mrs. Wilburn worked several years at Valley View Hospital, Head of ICU and Assistant Director of Nursing. She retired as Dr. Hunsaker’s Cardiac nurse. Mrs. Wilburn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fitzhugh, WMU at the First Baptist Church and the District Nurses Association. She taught Sunday School at Oak Avenue Children’s Department, at FBC Electra Children’s and FBC Bellaire Children’s Department.
Survivors include her children, Janet M. Wilburn, Judy K. Cantrell and husband Bob and Steve Wilburn and wife Liz, all of Ada; her grandchildren, Kyle Cantrell, Jake Cantrell, Kevin Cantrell, Daniel Wilburn and Stephanie Schofield; her great-grandchildren, Toren Cantrell, Baird Cantrell, Major Cantrell, Sam Cantrell, Tyler Cantrell, Oliver Cantrell, Gracie Cantrell, Elyn Cantrell, Abigail Schofield and Eleanor Schofield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her siblings, Pat Tippitt and John C. Plumlee.
Bearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Fitzhugh Baptist Church Building Fund or the Youth Fund, P. O. Box 177, Fitzhugh, OK 74843.
