Services for Bill Barrett will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Southwest Church of Christ, with David Dirrim and Brian Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery.

Billy Frank Barrett passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born on July 11, 1936, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Frank and Ruby (Sis) Ferguson Barrett. Billy led a life full of love, service, and devotion to his family, his church, and his country.

On November 20, 1958, Billy married the love of his life, Mary Frances Lillard, in their hometown of Ada, Oklahoma. For more than 65 years, their marriage was a testament to commitment, faith, and partnership—a deep bond that carried them through life’s many blessings and challenges. As longtime members of Southwest Church of Christ, they were active participants in their congregation. Together, they built a loving home where family always came first and faith was at the center of everything they did.

A lifelong educator, Billy earned his master’s degree in education from East Central University and dedicated more than 40 years to shaping young minds at Homer and Byng schools. Teaching, coaching, and administration weren’t just jobs to him—they were callings. He had a special gift for making learning enjoyable and was known for his calm demeanor, wisdom, and ability to inspire his students. Whether in the classroom or the hallways, Billy had a way of making everyone feel valued and heard. Generations of students carried his lessons with them long after they left his classroom.

Beyond the classroom, Billy proudly served his country in the National Guard for 30 years, demonstrating his dedication to service and patriotism. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing—he found peace and joy in nature, often sharing those moments with friends and family.

Above all, Billy’s greatest role in life was being “Papa” to his grandchildren. He never missed a game, recital, or event—always there, cheering them on with immense pride. He was a referee or umpire’s biggest critic, convinced that his grandchildren always played a perfect game. He was their biggest supporter, steady presence, and greatest source of love and encouragement. The memories he created with them will be treasured forever.

Billy leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and faith. His kindness, humor, and generous heart touched the lives of all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, former students, and all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his two sons, Richard Barrett and wife Joni, and Brett Barrett and wife Gina; his daughter, Cindy Geiger and husband Darrell; five grandchildren, Clay Barrett, Trent Barrett, Savanah McClure and husband Tyler, Sydney Barrett, and Raygn Tinsley and husband Mark; and four great-grandchildren, Ellie Barrett, Gracelynn McClure, Joleigh Tinsley, and Rayah Tinsley.

Pallbearers will be Clay Barrett, Trent Barrett, Mark Tinsley, Tyler McClure, Jeff Lillard, Ronny Johns, and Scott Young. Honorary pallbearers are Tim Hensley, Trenton Hensley, Adam Hensley, Owen Hensley, Billy Webb, David Scroggins, Lynda Collins, and Floyd Kaiser.
