Services for Irvena Jo “Tootles” Alford, 90, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Harold Ware will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Alford passed away Monday, July 9, 2018 at an Ada hospital. She was born May 15, 1928 at Choctaw, OK to Irven S. and Beulah Colbert Elmore. She was a longtime resident of Ada and graduated from Horace Mann High School in Ada.
She married Eugene “Dunnie” Alford September 18, 1946. He preceded her in death September 10, 1989. Mrs. Alford was a homemaker and later a home health care provider. She was a friend of Conway Twitty and Reba McIntire and had made trips with Conway. She was proud of her Chickasaw Heritage and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Ada and she was an avid gardener.
Tootles lead a full and productive life. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and had many close friends in Ada and Wewoka. Tootles was a strong woman and you never had to wonder what she was thinking.
Survivors include two sons, Danny Alford of Ada and Donnie Alford and wife Leslie of Ada; two sisters, Sue Ross, Ada and Lou Greenlee, Ada; a brother, Roy Elmore and wife Billie, Stonewall; her grandchildren, Holly Harrod, Miles Alford, Chris Alford, Thad Gillum and Tyler Gillum, Tee Gillum, Kimberly Pryor and husband Larry; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Susan Diane Gillum; and a granddaughter, Megan Harrod.
Bearers will be her grandsons, Chris Alford, Miles Alford, Tyler Gillum, Thad Gillum and Dakota Priest. Honorary bearers will be Robert Rutledge, Scott Elmore and Matt Elmore.
