Funeral services for Pastor Stanley Eugene Smith, 74, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 18th at Asbury United Methodist Church, Revs. Osbourne Roberts and Lester Tims will officiate. Burial will follow at Steedman Cemetery, east of Ada. A wake service will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Pastor Smith passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born December 9, 1945 at Allen, OK to Kuton and Leona Shields Smith. He graduated from Sequoya High School in Tahlequah, OK and attended East Central University.
He married Mary Jane Frazier in 1970 at Centrahoma. Pastor Smith was the Pastor at Boiling Springs United Methodist Church and was a Master Language Teacher for the Chickasaw Nation. Pastor Smith served on the Chickasaw Language Committee and the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference. He served in the U. S. Army in Germany. Pastor Smith loved OU Football, Yankees Baseball, western movies and eating beans, biscuits and ice cream with the little ones.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; his children, Shannon Parnacher and husband Craig, Briana Smith, Chad Smith and wife Lea, all of Ada; his grandchildren, Shelbey Rivera, Kele Parnacher, Jairus Smith, Kelbey Parnacher, Caymen Smith and Jayse Smith; his great-grandchildren, Leilani and Daleyza Rivera; three sisters, Madeline Alexander and Verna Mason and Sharon Smith; and six brothers, Jimmy Perry, Kenneth Smith, Darl Smith, Floyd Smith, David Smith and Lester Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Malasie Smith; and a sister Lou Palmer.
Bearers will be Clovis Hamilton, Brandon White Eagle, Rick Greenwood, Jairus Smith, Yamil Rivera and Jason Burwell. Honorary bearers will be Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby, Lt. Gov. Chris Anoatubby, Seminole Nation Chief Greg Chilcoat, Josh Hinson, Luther John, Kele Parnacher, Rev. Randy Wade, Rev. David Wilson, Haskell Alexander, Carey Frazier, Caymen Smith, Jordan Alexander, Brandon John, Craig Parnacher, Merle Berryhill, Ron Frazier and Jefferson Keel.
