Services for Shirley Jean Miller, 59, of Ada are 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Restoration Church, Brock Barrett will officiate. Burial will follow at Steedman Cemetery.
Shirley Jean Miller went to her heavenly home Monday, April 24, 2023 at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born November 9, 1963 in Amarillo, TX to Colson Miller and Kelsie Alexander Morris. She graduated from Byng High School in 1982.
She was a beloved cosmetology instructor at Shear Power Academy in Ada for many years. She worked as a hair stylist and was promoted to manager at Regis Salon in Shawnee. She later served as a summer youth counselor and resource specialist at the Chickasaw Nation.
She was a member of the Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church in Ada, and also attended Restoration Church. She previously served as a Sunday school teacher and was a strong woman of faith.
She enjoyed decorating, baking, laughing and spending time with her children and family.
Survivors include her daughter, Kelsie Short, Moore; son, Matthew Caleb Wayne Short, Ada; sisters, Carolyn Sue Fish and husband Willie, Norman, Leta Burwell, Ada, Rita Mae Blankenship and husband, Edward, Ada, Tami Morris, Ada; brother, Dusty Miller, Ada; aunts, Lou Yargee, Allen, and Linda Berry, Ada, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews who she loved as her own.
She is preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents, Watt and Minnie Nelson Alexander; paternal grandparents, Colbert and Lula Miller; sisters, Connie Wear and Mattie Thurman; brothers, Carl Carpenter, Kenneth Carpenter and Terry Miller.
Pallbearers are Edward Blankenship, Jason Burwell, Dustin Langley, Michael Parker, Carmello Reveles and Matt Short.
Honorary pallbearers are Brandon Blankenship, Eric Fish, Jered Fish, William Fish, Willie Fish and Justin Miller.
