Services for Eldon Marcus “Mark” Walls, 79, of Union Valley are 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2020 at the Union Valley Baptist Church, Rev. Randall Christy will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Walls died Thursday, July 30, 2020 at his home. He was born December 22, 1940 in Oklahoma City to Hubert “Red” and Ruby Blanton Walls. He and his older brother Tom grew up in the Ada area. Mark attended Latta schools and later graduated from Ada High School in 1958. After high school, Mark went to Okmulgee Technical Institute to study auto mechanics and then later graduated from East Central University acquiring his Master’s Degree in Teaching.
He married Shirley Sanders August 5, 1966 at the Fittstown Baptist Church. They built their marital home in Union Valley near the First Baptist Church which they loved and attended for most of their life together.
Mark taught science classes and auto mechanics at Vanoss Schools from 1966 until 1970. He then began his career at Stonewall Schools where he retired in 1994. He loved to help people and he was fulfilled by his many acts of service. His path was to serve and teach others to solve problems on their own.
Survivors include Shirley Walls, his wife of 53 years; sons, Keith, Kevin, and Kyle Walls; grandchildren, Marcus Walls, Tori Walls, Ryan Walls, Addison Walls, Garret Walls, and Maylee Walls; and a brother, Tom Walls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Loretta Walls; sisters-in-law, Linda Bradley and Theressa Walls; and his father-in-law, Robert Sanders.
Bearers will be, Frank Skidmore, Kevin Shaw, Tommy Chaffin, Steve Vandegriff, Charlie Golden and Larry Nickell. Honorary bearers will be, Rev. Frank Trent, Dale Zachary and Ronnie Lawson.
