Services for Joan Cecilia Thompson, 77, of Ada are 10:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Father Billy Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. A Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thompson passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 at a local nursing home. She was born July 23, 1938 in Ada to Cecil James and Jewel Marie LaBarge Brannon. She graduated from Latta High School in 1957 and received a Bachelor’s degree in English from East Central University in 1961.
She married Don L. B. Thompson May 17, 1963 in Ada. He preceded her in death December 25, 2015 in Ada. Mrs. Thompson retired as a secretary from Vision Bank Trust Department. Previously, she was a stay-at-home mom for 15 years and had also worked for Oklahoma State Bank and Otasco in Ada. Mrs. Thompson was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, dancing with her husband and shopping.
Survivors include her children, Leah Counts of Stonewall, Joey Thompson and his wife Tammy of Ada and Wade Thompson and his wife Amber of Ada; eight grandchildren, Cheyenne Counts, Cierra Counts, Ashlyn Beeler and husband Christian, Kalen Thompson, Chesney Counts, Kate Thompson, Knox Thompson and Alex Thompson; three sisters, Carol Gonzalez, Ada, Pat Butler and husband Donnie, Ada and Josie Keys and husband David, Lone Grove; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Bearers will be Kalen Thompson, Tony Gonzalez, Chip Davis, Nate Austin, Ethan Difalco and Christian Beeler. Honorary bearers will be Jose Gonzalez, David Keys and Donnie Butler.
