Services for Glen Burle Owens, 86, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Matt Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Owens passed peacefully from this life to reunite with his wife of 65 years, Imogene, March 20, 2019, at OK VETERAN'S HOSPITAL.
Glen was born north of Ada May 22, 1932 to Minnie Noel Owens and Walter Owens. He lived most of his life in Ada attending the River Church (formerly 1st Pentecostal Holiness Church) where he served in many capacities. He had accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the age of four and lived for God his entire life. Mr. Owens enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict where he proudly served with his unit, 1094th AVMDEPRON(HEDCOM USAF) from 1952 to 1956 when he was honorably discharged with commendations.
After returning to Ada, Glen began working for Brockway Glass until his retirement. He then began working at various grocery stores in Ada, Dicus, Dutch Robbins and Save-a-Lot. He did this for 20 years then was hired by Nissan, Ada, to be a transporter to other dealerships throughout the Midwest. At the age of 80 it was "suggested" that he go into full retirement.
Mr. Owens married Imogene Leonard April 7, 1953. He is survived by two daughters, Becky Handley (Rice), Edmond, and Lynn McNeill (Bart), Ada; one cousin, Patsy Hill, Ada; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren along with many friends whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene, Oct. 13, 2017; his parents and three siblings, Irene Owens, Raymond Owens & Loretta Owens Blankenship.
Pallbearers will be Rice Handley, Bart McNeill, Scott Stallings Gavin Meimyer, Michael McElroy and Chris Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren.
