Marcia Rose (Fritsch) Melton

A funeral service for Marcia Rose Melton, 83, of Ada, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Rosedale Cemetery. A wake service will be held at Criswell Funeral Home on Monday, February 17 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Marcia passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in Oklahoma City. Born December 10, 1941, in Hamilton, Ohio, she was the daughter of Louis J. and Rose Lee Lay Fritsch.

She married O.A. Melton, on September 14, 1967, in San Antonio, TX. After moving to Oklahoma in 1972, she managed the Dairy Queen until her retirement in 1994. She then worked for the Ada City Schools for 16 years.

Marcia is survived by three daughters: Vickie Hardin and husband Sam of Ada, Dana Foster and husband Jim of Ada, and Tonya Kinsey and husband Jason of Ada. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Stephen P. Fritsch of Fairfield, Ohio, and sister, Betty McGrath of Danville, Kentucky. Marcia was a proud grandmother to Cara Morris, Shelby Ellis, Julia Rumley, Katie Thompson, Jalynn Foster, Darrin Foster, Rachel Selfridge, Madeline Kinsey, and Jessica Kinsey. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Carter Knighten, Felix Morris, Callen Morris, Liam Thompson, Kodi Kinsey, Dax Foster, Reed Selfridge, and Rory Selfridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 51 years, O.A. "Mel" Melton, and three brothers: Frank Fritsch, Donald Fritsch, and Thomas Fritsch.

Pallbearers will include Sam Hardin, Carter Knighten, Jason Kinsey, Dr. Stephen P. Fritsch, Jim Foster, and Darrin Foster.

A special thanks to Dr. James Wight of Ada.

Marcia’s sense of humor and love will continue to inspire all those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of calling her a friend.
