Services for Paul Charles Love, Sr., 86, of Ada are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Southwest Church of Christ, Mr. Danny Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Love passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 at his son’s home. He was born June 24, 1934 in Childress, Texas to Ivan Edward and Beulah Ottie Grissom. After his high school graduation, he worked several jobs and drove a mail truck for his brother, Earl Love.
He married Shirley Ann Rhoades April 27, 1973. Mr. Love retired as a Captain from the City of Ada Fire Department. After going to work for the fire department in 1961, he drove a sand truck for his brother, Ed, hauling sand from Mill Creek to Brockway Glass Company in Ada. He had also owned metal storage buildings and a septic tank business. Mr. Love was a member of Southwest Church of Christ.
Paul was a Christian that believed in doing the right thing. He worked hard all his life and was a man of his word. He loved his wife, children and his grandchildren. The grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved family gatherings at his home where he built a croquet ground, where he kept it rolled, flat and weed free. He also had a badminton court and horse-shoes set up. He had numerous games inside as well where he would get in the floor and play for hours with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Love, Ada; his children, Chuck Love and wife Donna, Sheri Wilkerson and husband Bruce and Danny Love and wife Suize, all of Ada; sister, Betty McCullers, Denton, TX; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Edward Love, Mildred Love, Margaret Love and Earl Love; and a nephew, Bobby Love.
Bearers will be Nathan Brundidge, Justin Dansby, Hunter Williams, Kirk Langwell, Jack Cadenhead, Travis Reust and Bruce Wilkerson.
