Services for Joseph "Joe" Stephen Jared, Jr., 95, of Ada are at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Asbury United Methodist Church. Rev. Travis Muse and Rev. Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, and the Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors.

Mr. Jared passed away Friday, April 27, 2018, at a local nursing home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 8, 1922 in Ada to Joseph Stephen Jared, Sr. and Mabel Gwendolyn Noe Jared. Joe attended Ada schools and graduated from Stonewall High School. He attended the University of North Dakota for one year, while in the Air Force.

He married Joyce Marie Haley on April 29, 1944. She preceded him in death on September 7, 2017.

Joe served with the U.S Army Air Force in World War II. After working a few years in California, Joe and his family returned to Ada where he began working for OG & E, retiring as a Shift Supervisor from the Seminole Generating Station after 33 years of service.

He was a long time member of Asbury United Methodist Church and served on a number of committees. Joe was also a 32nd Degree Mason. He loved bowling, fishing, and golfing, but most of all he loved his family and his Lord.

Survivors include sons Joe Ed Jared and wife Cathy of Yukon, OK, and Jeff Jared and wife Gaye of Ada; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and other loving relatives and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Joyce, of 73 years; one son, Steve; three brothers and five sisters; and one grandson, Daniel Jared.

Pallbearers will be: Joe Williams, John Gregory, Phil Murray, Mike Perkins, Gary Isaacs, and David Parker.
