Services for Alvin Eugene Jamar, 83, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Southwest Church of Christ, Danny Stewart, Floyd Kaiser and Gary Jamar will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Jamar died Thursday, September 15, 2016 at a local nursing home. He was born October 1, 1932 in Galey to Gene and Maudie Osborne Jamar. He graduated from Asher High School.
He married Hazel Bettis on October 27, 1956 in Ada. Mr. Jamar served in the United States Army from 1952 until 1955. He retired from Brockway Glass Company after 39 years and being a foreman for 32 years. He was the popcorn man at Citizens Bank for 10 years. He was also a member of the Church of Christ where he served as Elder and Deacon at the Southwest Church of Christ, Prison Ministry and the Food Outreach at Yellow House.
Survivors include his wife Hazel, of the home; three daughters, Darla Hendricks and husband David of Ada, Karla Garberick and husband James of Ada, and Dena Withrow of Yukon; two grandsons, Dylan Hendricks and wife Carly and Dawson Hendricks; three granddaughters, Dayton Hendricks, Kalee Withrow and Kendyl Withrow and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Oma, Henry, Albert and his twin Calvin and one sister Edna Wood.
Bearers will be Dylan Hendricks, Dawson Hendricks, Bryan Kingery, Caleb Estes, Jerry Jamar, Ricky Jamar, Denny Bettis and Cary Gerth. Honorary bearers will be Eugene Cannon, Bobby Johns, Glendel Hatton, Terry Shortes, Elmer Gerth and Daryl Bond.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Cap Haitien Children’s Home in care of the Southwest Church of Christ, 505 W. 17th, Ada, OK 74820.
