Services for Albert Monroe Hurley, 77, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2024 at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel; Pastor Ken Wolf will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Hurley passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at his home. He was born February 14, 1947, in Sacramento, CA to Monroe and Maxi Hurley. He graduated from Latta High School and joined the Air Force.
On August 20, 1973, he married Ethel Pierce. He worked for Brockway Glass until it closed down in December 1991. He opened Dad’s Place, worked at Flex N Gate and Treats Janitorial in addition to mowing yards and picking pecans.
Mr. Hurley loved being around his family; whether camping, boating, fishing, bowling, playing softball, dominoes or just sitting around watching westerns. He collected coins and antiques, and listened to good old music reel to reel on his old tape recorder. Mr. Hurley loved showing his cars and wood working. He was always finding something to do and loved helping others. He never met a stranger and children loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Hurley of the home and a very special four legged companion, Lola; a great nephew that he raised as a son, Tanner Byrd and fiancé Kadence Revels and grandson, Kian Byrd of Ada; son, Randy Hurley of Ada; sister, LeeAnn Brown of Visalia, CA; brother, Wayne Hurley of Ardmore; step-mother, Mary Lou Hurley (Cape); niece, Linda Tisdell and husband, Clayton, Shellie Riddle and husband, Glen ; great nephew, Matthew Farmer and wife Jennifer, Christopher Farmer, Micah Stringer and Thomas Jimboy and wife Andy; great niece, Brittany Farmer; great great niece, Lumen Craig; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; special friends, Everett Hadley, Paul Watson, Windell Raper, Laverne McGuire, Kristy McGuire, Michael McGuire and wife Heather, Dylan McGuire, and Drew McGuire; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxi; father, Monroe Hurley; son, David Hurley; infant daughter; and sister, LaDonna Cobb.
Bearers are Paul Watson, Michael McGuire, Matthew Farmer, Dylan McGuire, Chris Farmer, and Dalton Hurley. Honorary bearers are Wendell Raper, Everett Hadley, and Bruce Brents.
