Services for Samuel Roy (Sam) Hunt, 85, of Stonewall are 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2020 at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, his grandson, Dustin Hunt will officiate and grandson, Tanner Meek will assist. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Viewing will be from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Hunt passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at an assisted living center in Ada. He was born March 22, 1935 at Vanoss, OK to James Samuel and Weltha Mae Oliver Hunt. He attended Vanoss schools.
He married Joye Mae Alford March 23, 1953. He later married Shirley Hunt March 22, 1982 in Ada. Mr. Hunt owned Ada Wholesale and Distributing, was a Real Estate Agent and had served as Pontotoc County District #3 County Commissioner. Mr. Hunt attended Harmony Free Will Baptist Church in Ada. He loved to golf, working his cattle and his tractor. Sam was always a salesman.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; his children, Debbie Allen and husband John, Ada, Ronny Hunt and wife Vickie, Harrah, Cheryl Meek, Ada, and Rhonda Tully and husband Jon, Ada; nine grandchildren, Misty Myers and husband Jeff, Ada, Jennifer Clark and husband Jeremy, Ada, Dustin Hunt and wife Elsa, Harrah, Brennin Hunt and wife Kelly, Oklahoma City, Mikenzi Hunt, Harrah, Tanner Meek, Tulsa, Tagus Meek and wife Shelby, Ada, Teagan Vick and husband Tadd, Ada and Treston Tully, Ada; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Joye West; two brothers, James Roy Hunt and Thomas Oliver Hunt; and a son-in-law, Derrell Meek.
Bearers will be his grandchildren.
