A celebration of life for B. Jovan Hodges (Broughton), 83, will be August 21 at 10am at First Baptist Church, Ada, OK. Pastor Brad Graves and Reverend Harold Ware will officiate and Wade Evans will read scripture. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Jovan passed away Monday, July 28, 2025 at The Cordwainer Memory Care Facility in Norwell, MA. She was born February 6, 1942 in Ardmore, OK and grew up on Goddard Ranch. She graduated from Dickson High School and East Central University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education.
She married Johny Monroe Hodges on August 24, 1963 in Ardmore, OK at First Baptist Church.
Jovan held many positions in Ada and served on many boards. She owned The Front Porch in downtown Ada for 17 years and served as secretary on the Ada Main Street board and on many committees. Jovan also served as a board director and stockholder at Oak Hills Country Club. She was treasurer of the Ladies Golf Association at Oak Hills as well. Jovan also faithfully volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Ada for 52 years.
Survivors include her daughters-Judy Hise and husband Frank of Lucas, TX, and S. Jovan Buckley and husband David of Hingham, MA. Grandchildren: Samantha Hise Hartman and husband Tanner of Wylie, TX, Tripp Hise and wife Alexa of Houston, TX, Rachel Hise of Lucas, TX, Carmen and Teagan Buckley of Hingham, MA. Great-grandchildren Lucy Hise and Wesley Hartman. She is also survived by her sister, Adrianne Fox of Norman, OK and brother Danny and his wife Ann of Norman, OK, brother-in-law Ricki Hodges of Ardmore, OK, and sister-in-law Pat Hodges of Norman, OK., and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Johny Hodges, her parents, Adrian and Jo (Adair) Broughton, and a very close cousin, Glen Dewey Adair.
Bearers are Frank Hise, David Buckley, Tripp Hise, Tanner Hartman, Blake Broughton, and Mel Adair.
Jovan was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and Nanny and a loyal and true friend to many. She will be greatly missed but we find joy in knowing she is made complete and renewed and with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
