Services for Charlene Delores Gurley, 81, Ada, are 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Rev. Don Griffin officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Gurley died on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born August 10, 1928, to Vener Arlington and Willie Ellen Clements Barnes. She graduated from Roff High School in 1947. Mrs. Gurley was employed in Ada at several different businesses, and retired from K-Mart as a department manager. After retiring she loved to travel to different places and go camping. She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church for many years.
She married Sam J. Gurley on October 25, 1947, in Ada, and has lived in Ada ever since.
Survivors include her husband, Sam Gurley, of the home; one daughter, Patricia (Pat) Christian and husband Mike, Carrollton, Texas; three sons, Elvin Gurley, Ada; Keith Gurley, Ada; and Gary Gurley and wife Cheryl, Redondo Beach, California; one grandson, Shawn Christian, Carrollton, Texas; sisters-in-law, Patsy Barnes, Roff; and Correne Barnes, Ada; brothers-in-law, Wendell Gurley and wife Treva, Ada; Floyd Gurley and wife Pat, Ada; Loyd Gurley and wife Mary, Sulphur; Kenneth Gurley, California; Elbert Gurley and wife Lois, Washington State; three sisters-in-law, Allene Cobb, Ada; Christine Lewis, Edmond; and Thelma Gurley, South Carolina; and lots of nieces, nephews and cousins and also a very special friend, Geneva Bradford, Roff. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, La June Barnes; two brothers, Haskell Ray Barnes, Roff; and Richard Barnes, Roff.
Bearers are Shawn Christian, Chris Gurley, Russ Gurley, Charles Gurley, Johnny Barnes, Richard Barnes, Robert Breeden and Jerry Breeden.
