Flowers, Dr. Wanda J., 85, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born December 24, 1925 in Eureka, Kansas to Thomas and Lola Mae (Brummal) Duffy. She was united in marriage on September 1, 1947 in Ada, OK to Solomon B. Flowers.

Wanda received her BA and Masters degrees from East Central State University, Ada, OK and her PHD from the University of Oklahoma. She was a teacher for 40 years before retiring in 1990 from the Little Axe District. She was a member and past president of Kappa Kappa Iota, a current member of Rosie Riveter Society, and a member of American Association of University Women and Dizzy Dames Red Hat Society. She enjoyed sending newsletters to her retired friends, scrapbooking, sewing, and making Christmas ornaments each year for each member of her family. She also enjoyed world traveling and taking cruises. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and recently traveled with the church to the Holy Land.

Wanda is survived by two sons, Stephen Flowers and wife Wendy of Edmond and Roger Flowers and Mary Ellen Tasier of Norman; three daughters, Dorothy Graham and husband Hayes of Arlington, TX, Mary Brannon of Washington, OK and Janie Palmer and husband Wayne of Bartlesville, OK; one brother, John W. Duffy and wife Helen of Austin, TX; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and one on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sol Flowers; two infant sons, Danny Thomas and David Alan; two sisters and one brother.

Visitation will begin 3:00 P.M., Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St., Norman.

Vigil Prayer services will be held 6:00 P.M., Friday, January 7, 2011 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 N. Porter, Norman, Oklahoma. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 8, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 N. Porter, Norman. Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, January 10, 2011 in the Rosedale Cemetery, Ada, Oklahoma under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.
