Services for Rebecca Frances Ely, 69, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Southwest Church of Christ, David Dirrim will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Ms. Ely passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at her home. She was born October 12, 1949 at Searcy, AR to (Joe) Tillman Lawrence Moody and (Billye) Wilberta Frances Smith Moody. She attended grade school in Searcy and graduated from Searcy High School, where she was a member of the Searcy High School Band. She received a Bachelor of Social Work from Harding University and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She received her license of Clinical Social work from the State of Arkansas.
She married Dale Ely April 12, 1968. Ms. Ely worked at White County Hospital in various offices, was a realtor, managed a mental health clinic for 15 years and had also worked in the emergency room and with hospice.
Ms. Ely was a member of the Downtown Church of Christ in Searcy, AR for 50 years, and a member of Southwest Church of Christ in Ada for five years. She organized the Widow’s and Ladies programs at her church, was a houseparent at a Children’s Home in Morrilton, AR, and taught World Bible School for many years.
Survivors include a son, Alan Ely and his wife Megan and children, Julianne Wilson, Garrett, Claire and Margaret Ely; a daughter, Melissa Eck and husband John and children, Summer, Ethan, Rebekah and Macey Eck; sister, Joanna Brookhart and husband Bill; brother-in-law, Wade Ely and wife Deana; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; and a very special great-grandson, Malachi Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Gloria Ojala.
Bearers will be Alan Eck, John Eck, Jeremy Eck, Stephen Eck, Garrett Ely, Ethan Eck, Jarrod Hudson and Cody Frye.
