Robert William (Bob) Bonar, age 94 of Ada, died Friday, February 28 at his home. He was born November 29, 1930 in Henryetta, OK to the late Clyde and Jama Bonar.
Bob was a graduate of East Central University in Industrial Engineering Education. He was drafted into the US Army during the Korean conflict and was sent to serve his country in Germany. He co-owned Bonar Auto Supply with his brother Joe and loved meeting the public. After retirement, he worked at JB Lumber Co for 19 years. He retired again at age 90 to take care of his wife, who was in declining health. He was active in First Baptist Church Ada for many years, and served in the Kiwanis Club as president. He enjoyed woodworking and yard work, but he especially enjoyed having people to his house for Bible study and prayer time every Friday night for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over 65 years, Jimmie Lou, and one brother, Joe Bonar. Survivors are daughter Janie (Will) Thompson, son Paul (Kathy) Bonar, and daughter Donna Vessels. He also had five grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan) Rainbolt, Philip (Elizabeth) Thompson, Christina (Cole) Osborne, Chelsea Bonar, and Jonathan Bonar. He was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their thanks to his special caregivers provided through First Light Home Care, especially Amber Bacon and Miranda Frazer.
A graveside service will be held at Rosedale Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5. Family visitation will be held Tuesday, March 4 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Criswell Funeral Home.
