Bill Bennett, Jr., 90, of Paris, TN, formerly of Ada and Roff passed away on July 23, 2015 in a Paris nursing home after battling dementia. Bill and his son, Ricky Allen Bennett were laid to rest on August 20, 2015 at Rosedale Cemetery.
He is survived … He was preceded in death by his parents, Eura Bevills Wardlow and Bill Bennett, Sr.; step-dad, Arthur Wardlow; grandparents, AD and Fanne Bevills; half-brother, Bobby Charles Brians; first wife, Mildred and second wife, Ruth; daughters, Patrisha and Cindy; son, Ricky Allen Bennett; aunt, Ima Jean Cooper; mother-in-law, Willie Mae Courson; father-in-law, Jack Graham Anderson; brothers-in-law, Billie Jack Anderson, Henry Dale Anderson; C and Ruby Brandon and other aunts, cousins and half-sisters.
Bill was born April 24, 1925 in Ada in a house that is still standing on west 13th, south on Bluff to his mother, Eura Bevills and father, Bill Bennett, Sr. He grew up in Ada and attended Glenwood Elementary School. He was involved in sports activities with his half-brother, Bobby Charles Brians. Years later in 1943, he married his first wife Mildred Lee and they had a daughter, Patrisha Bennett. He left Oklahoma to live in Sacramento, CA and worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He met Ruth and married his second wife in 1952. They had a son, Ricky Allen Bennett and a daughter, Pamela Bennett. While living in CA, he coached Little League. Years later he moved back to Ada and met Shirley Anderson and married his third wife June 19, 1971. They had two children March 19, 1972 Cindy was born and June 24, 1974, Chris Bennett was born.
Shirley and Billy were married for 45 years. He worked at the Ada Glass Plant and Valley View Hospital for 19 years before he retired in 1986. He never smoked or drank. He was a worker, husband and father. He loved sports and OU Football. He loved to eat peanut butter. He loved to go the Nichol’s Dollar Saver to eat and drink coffee. He loved the people that worked there. He moved to Paris, TN April 29, 2014. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Bible Baptist, New Hope Baptist and Free Will Baptist in Ada. He is waiting for us with all of the family and friends that went before us in heaven. Jesus loves you. Let Him be in your heart. He is coming back soon. Be ready for that day.
