She graduated from Ada High School and attended college at East Central University. She received both her Bachelors and Graduate degrees from ECU. She was a teacher for 25 years in the Ada School System. She was a business teacher and taught many students to type. She was the first teacher to introduce computers to Ada High School students; she had to spend a summer learning how to use the computer before school started to teach the use of computers. Later, she and fellow teacher, Stacy Golightly, published their computer lesson plans with Southwest Publishers.
At the age of 21 and 23, she and her husband started a business, Anderson Music Company. She managed the company finances for over fifty years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Ada, a volunteer for Valley View Regional Hospital later to become Mercy, helped deliver “meals on wheels”, enjoyed several bridge groups and spending time with her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen “Andy” Anderson, parents, Lela Mae and Boots Jackson, and brother, Harold Jackson.
Pall bearers will be Matt Stafford, Shawn Stafford, Montana Anderson, Jake Neal, Brian Clark, Wink Kopczynski and Darrel Thompson.
She loved her students and had a huge heart for any child struggling with illness. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you consider a donation in her memory to Ada City Schools Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, a good friend, an excellent teacher, and a kind, humble, friendly Christian lady.
