Graveside services for James Edward Abbott, 72, of Ada were 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2020 at Rosedale Cemetery, Jamie Perry will officiated.

Mr. Abbott passed away Friday, November 20, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 20, 1948 in Ada, OK to Lester and Mary Dunham Abbott. He attended Washington Elementary School and Ada High School. He worked at Brockway Glass Company from 1970- 1991 as a journeyman mechanic. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1965-69. He was an Aviation Support Mechanic Petty Officer Third Class serving two tours in Vietnam on the USS Ticonderoga.

He married Janice Franks on August 19, 1967. He and his wife loved to travel. Friends and family always enjoyed listening to his exceptional guitar playing. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Jan, of the home; daughter, Debbie Forster and husband, Keith of Ada; son, Jamie Abbott and wife Emily of Ada, granddaughters, Jaelynn Fry and husband Zane of Flower Mound, TX, and Kaylee Beam and husband Garrett of Durant, OK; grandson, Carson Abbott of Ada; and two great-grandchildren, Violet and Arlo Fry of Flower Mound, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Douglas Abbott and Curtis Abbott; sister, Evelyn Sanders, infant sister, Barbara Abbott; and grandson, James Eric Owens.

Bearers were Carson Abbott, Zane Fry, Garrett Beam, Keith Forster, Harley Bliss and Sean Jeffrey. Honorary bearers include Bill Hood, Raymond Tharp, Jason Cox and Wiley Balthrop.
