Services for Betty Jean Abbott, 86, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Tommy Chaffin will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mrs. Abbott died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at a local hospital. She was born July 28, 1928 at Ada to Jesse Lee and Addie Pearl York Putman. She graduated from Latta High School.

She married Joe Kent Abbott January 2, 1948. He preceded her in death August 11, 2007. Mrs. Abbott had been employed at the Ada Glass Plant, Blue Bell and Sears. She retired from Kerr Lab Water Research Lab at the young age of 83. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include three daughters, Sherry Todd, Newcastle and Thalia Miller and husband Doug, and Darla Porter, all of Ada; a son, David Abbott, Ada; seven grandchildren, Dewayne Norvill, Julie Russell, Shanda Nelson, Zac Abbott, Colbi Lawson, Sydney Abbott and Kirk Miller; and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, J. L. Putman, Jr.

Bearers will be Dewayne Norvill, Zac Abbott, Jackie Nelson, Kirk Miller, Taylor Lawson and Kent Abbott. Honorary bearers will be James Doyle Marion, Ervin Walton and Clint Yarbrough.
