ALTHA ADA TINER
1908 - 2004
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2003, at Peters Funeral Home Chapel in Wasco, at 11 a.m., for Altha Ada Tiner, age 94, who passed away December 1, 2003, in Bakersfield, Reverend Jim Wheeler of Grace Community Church will officiate and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park.Altha was a loving mother and grandmother with a very caring soul whose life was committed to her family. She was a very giving and loving person. She was a woman with a strong faith in God, who loved to read, especially her Bible. Altha enjoyed the simple things in life. She was a hard working woman and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. She enjoyed cooking and her life was built around her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Altha was born December 2, 1908, to Robert and Lydia McCormick in Pontotoc County, Steedman, Oklahoma. She graduated from Lula High School in Lula, Oklahoma and then attended East Central State College in Ada, OK. She married Edgar Tiner on November 8, 1929, and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1987. In addition to serving her family as a homemaker, she and Edgar worked together operating the family farm.
Altha is survived by her son, Bruce Tiner and wife, Irma of Bakersfield; brothers, Loyce McCormick and wife, Beth of Brentwood, Joseph O. McCormick and wife, Tessie of San Leandro, and Troy J. McCormick and wife, Donna of Brentwood; 2 grandchildren, Jeremy Tiner, Wendy Green and husband, Aaron; 1 great grandchild, Carson Green; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar, her parents, one brother, James McCormick and sister, Virginia Jackson
