The family will host a memorial service for Clayton David “Clay” Scherotter, 16, of Latta at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Morris Memorial Baptist Church, Rev. Brent Smith will officiate. A reception will follow the service.

Clay died Thursday, August 6, 2015 at an Ada hospital. He was born April 23, 1999 in Hemet, California. He was currently a Junior at Latta High School, where he was a member of the Latta FFA Chapter. Clay was a member of the NJBRA (National Jr. Bull Riders Association) for ten years. He recently started racing go-carts. Clay worked at Santa Fe Restaurant in Ada. He was a member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church.

Clay always had a smile on his face and tried to make everyone laugh.

Survivors include his parents, David Anthony and April Joyann Nelson Scherotter, of the home; sister, Catrina Scherotter, of the home; his Aunt Tish of California, with whom he shared a special bond; his Grandma Margaret and Grandpa George, both of California; Uncle Mark and Aunt Trina also of California; and many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by two grandmothers and a great uncle.
