Carthel E. "Newt" Hough
1924 - 2004
Graveside services for Carthel E. Hough will be held at Arvin Cemetery on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m.

Carthel was born in Stonewall, Oklahoma, February 24, 1924, to Fred and Maudie Hough.

Carthels family moved to Lamont, California in 1940.

Carthel listed with the 1378 Air Force Unit in Totten, New York, where he served as a fire fighter.

Carthel was a life time member of the V.F.W.

He worked as a bartender for years. Carthel was a very humble but quiet man, liked and loved by many people.

Carthel is preceded in death by his companion of 30 years, Ruth Birdwell.

Carthel leaves behind his two sisters, Loetta Tucker of Bakersfield, California and Mary Duncan of Parrie Grove, AR; nephews, Don and Gary Tucker, Richard Michel and Jerry Hough all of Bakersfield, CA and Michael Duncan of Bakersfield.
