Memorial services for Lynn Carol Gibson, 67, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Chickasaw Nation Community Center, Deacon Zack Hawkins will officiate. Mrs. Gibson died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in Ada. She was born March 27, 1947 in Salem, Ohio to Edward and Jane Gray Bucher. She attended numerous schools due to her father being in the U. S. Army. She graduated from Lawton High School and attended Hills Business College in Oklahoma City. She moved to this area in 1964 from Midwest City.

She married Donald Brent Gibson in 1966 at Lawton. Previously, Mrs. Gibson had been employed with the Department of Indian Education. Mrs. Gibson was the first female employee of the Chickasaw Nation. She was currently the Chickasaw Nation Community Programs Liaison. Formerly, she was the Executive Secretary to Governor Overton James. Mrs. Gibson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Ambuc’s, where she served as president from 1997 – 1998. She was active in various Chickasaw Community Service Projects and had served the Chickasaw Nation her entire adult life.

Survivors include her husband, Brent Gibson, of the home; a son, Cory Gibson and wife Kimberly of Shattuck, OK; her grandchildren, Damien, Jesse and McKynlee; her parents, Edward and Jane Bucher of Clarksville, TN; brother, Edward “Gray” Bucher and wife Sherry of Dover, TN; sister, Susan Haralson and husband Walter of Clarksville, TN, and two nieces, Heather and Melody.

Honorary bearers will be Governor Bill Anoatubby, Governor Overton James, Damien Gibson, Jesse Gibson and Cory Gibson.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Lynn C. Gibson Memorial Scholarship, c/o the Chickasaw Foundation, P. O. Box 1726, Ada, OK 74821, or at www.chickasawfoundation.org.
