Graveside services for Agnes A. Tharp were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 in Oakman Cemetery near Ada. Chaplain Jasper Ligon officiated with services under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home of Sherman Texas.
Mrs. Tharp was born Feb. 13, 1920 in Ada and passed away on Nov. 4 at the Crawford Street Place in Denison at the age of 88.
Agnes attended Ada schools. She and Ona Loyd Tharp were married July 7, 1939 in Ada. They moved to Sherman in 1970 and were married 52 years when Mr. Tharp died in June 1992. Mrs. Tharp was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and devoted homemaker. She will be remembered for her pecan pies, quilts, and her garden.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two brothers, Earnest, Jr. and W.T. Troxell, and one sister, Thelma Jordan.
Surviving her is her adopted family, including Beth Bringhurst-Williams and her husband Don of Sherman; Mark and Debbie Bringhurst of Roanoke, Texas; Brad and Cathy Bringhurst of Austin, Texas; and Lori and Ed Price of Parker, Texas. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
