Tia Juana Perkins, beloved mother, grandmother, and proud citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, passed away on June 26th, 2023, at the age of 82. Tia was born on October 5, 1940, to her late parents Thurman and Angie Wiley in Regan, Oklahoma.
Tia was a devoted wife to her late husband, Roger Perkins, who preceded her in death. She was a loving mother to her children Toby Perkins and wife Alesha, and Tiffany Davis and husband Scott. She was also an adoring grandmother to her cherished grandchildren Kyle Davis and wife Haley, Elizabeth Dempsey and husband Branum, Cash Freeman and wife Jessica, and Kaylee Sepanek and husband Logan.
Tia's passion for education led her to East Central University by way of Murray State College and on to a fulfilling career as a Junior High English Teacher. She inspired countless students with her love for literature and language. She spent much of her career at Mustang Middle School, where she made a significant impact on the lives of her students and colleagues. She retired after 28 years of service, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in education.
In addition to her successful career, Tia was known for her kind heart, warm smile, and generous spirit. Tia had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy. She loved riding on the back of her husband’s Harley, as well as riding her own. She was also a talented oil painter, creating beautiful works of art. Tia had a deep love for literature, and she could often be found with her nose buried in a book or enjoying a movie with her family. She had a knack for making her family feel loved and supported. Tia's presence brought joy and laughter to any room she entered.
Tia Juana Perkins will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, and friends. Her legacy as a loving mother, dedicated teacher, and multi-talented individual will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace, knowing that her memory will live on in the lives of those she touched and with our faith in Jesus, we know we will see her again.
