Services for Velma Lucille "Lucy" Gatewood, 75, Ada, are 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Al Beck will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakman Cemetery .Mrs. Gatewood died Friday, July 31, 2009, at a local hospital. She was born Feb. 27, 1934, at Ada, to Elzie Bryan and Daisy Velma George Cooper.
She graduated from Byng High School and attended college.
Mrs. Gatewood was an accounting secretary for Brockway Glass Company for many years.
She married Donald Lee Gatewood on Nov. 22, 1980, in Ada.
Survivors include her husband, Don Gatewood, of the home; her mother, Daisy Cooper, Ada; a daughter, Karla Chaffin and her husband Gary, Ada; a son, Keith Flowers, Ada; a step daughter, Karen Sawler, Ada; one sister, Wanda Jenkins, Paoli; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, a brother, Dale Cooper, a stepson and his wife, Rick and Debra Gatewood, a stepdaughter, Tawnya Gatewood, and a grandson, Rickey Gatewood.
Bearers will be Wade Hoover, Ryan Clinton, Lee Dougherty, Johnny Grigg, Kent Lee and Toby Cooper.
