Services for Sheldon Lee “Corky” Wilson, 88, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Church, Dr. Rusty Fuller and Rev. David Gray will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Wilson passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at an Ardmore hospital. He was born March 30, 1930 at Maramec, OK to Luther L. and Hazel E. Beavers Wilson. He and his family moved to this area in 1937 from Cement. He attended McLish schools and graduated from McLish High School and also from East Central University.
He married Mary Uhlich February 20, 1954. She preceded him in death January 24, 2008. Corky was a roustabout for Mobil Oil Company and later owned and operated a Mobil gas station. He had also worked as an office manager of the Oklahoma Employment Security Service in Seminole and was the Veterans Service Representative in Ada, retiring after 24 years of service. Corky had served in the U. S. Air Force from 1950-1954 and the Oklahoma National Guard from 1974 until retiring as a Command Sergeant Major in 1990. He was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Ada and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his three daughters, Terri Pierce of Ada, Debbie Byrd and husband Roger of Allen and Vicki Reiling and husband Jim of Ada; a son, Lynn Wilson and wife Trisha of Ada; his grandchildren, Cyndi Roark, Midwest City, Matt Pierce, Ada, Brad Compton, Ada, Kacie Haynes, Ada and Karlie Pogue, Ada; his great-grandchildren, Carter Roark, Caylee Roark, Maggie Compton, Ella Compton, Rylan Haynes, Kainen Haynes, Raycen Pogue and Laynie Pogue.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Roland Wilson.
Bearers will be Matt Pierce, Brad Compton, Casey Roark, Ryan Haynes, Tanner Pogue and Roger Byrd. Honorary bearer will be Jim Reiling.
