Graveside services for Ruby Irene Webb, 99, of Rowlett, TX, formerly of Ada are 11:00 a.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada, Rev. John Haynes will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home, Ada.
Ruby Irene Webb went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. She was with family at her home in Rowlett, Texas.
Ruby was born to James E. and Clemmie E. Hare October 9, 1917 in Larkin, Arkansas where her grandfather was postmaster. The family moved to the McAlester, Oklahoma area in 1919 when her dad accepted a job with Public Service Company of Oklahoma. Attending Red Oak and McAlester (Oklahoma) High Schools, Ruby was a track athlete, honor student, and valedictorian of her senior class. Enrolling at Blackwood-Davis Business School in Oklahoma City, she majored in accounting and graduated with honors. Upon graduation she worked for General Motors Acceptance Corporation in both Oklahoma City and Amarillo, Texas. While in Amarillo she took advanced accounting courses at Amarillo Jr. College and West Texas State College.
In 1941 she married James R. Webb Jr. in Corsicana, Texas. Both were employed by The Ray Enterprises and worked in management capacities in various locations throughout the United States including Paris, Texas where her first son was born, and Galveston, Texas where she gave birth to a second son.
In 1944, Ada, Oklahoma became home when Mr. Webb became associated with the General Adjustment Bureau, Inc., at the time the nation’s premier insurance adjusting and investigating company. While in Ada, Mr. Webb was president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. The couple’s daughter was born in Ada.
In 1949, the family moved to Hugo, Oklahoma where Mr. Webb became manager of the General Adjustment Bureau’s five county branch office. A member of the First Baptist Church, Ruby was also extremely socially active, serving as president of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, Mother’s Inter Se, Hugo High School Band Boosters and Teen Town sponsor among other organizations and activities. Her husband, Jim was president of the Quarterback Club and both she and Jim were on the original Country Club Exploration Committee.
Utilizing her business skills and experience, Ruby was an office administrative assistant for Wells Lamont’s Hugo factory, the Hugo office of the Oklahoma Employment Commission and the Choctaw Memorial Hospital.
Returning to Ada, in 1965, Mr. Webb continued to work with GAB while Ruby became procurement manager for the Robert S. Kerr Water Research Center of the EPA, earning recognition in Who’s Who of American Business Women. She was a member of First Baptist Church and worked for the election board regularly.
Moving to Texas in 1996, she became active with the election board and was a member of Hunter’s Glen Baptist Church in Plano, TX.
Extremely proud of her Irish and American Indian ancestry, Ruby was very gifted in arts and crafts. She was a member of “The Greatest Generation” many of whom were born during World War I and survived both the Great Depression and World War II.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Macey Earl Webb, and a grandson, Chad Enlo Warma.
She is survived by two children: James R. Webb III of Plano, Texas and Judith Rene’ Warma of Moore, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; Kelly Ann King of Cleburne, Texas, Lizabeth Lynne Stinson of The Woodlands, Texas, James Brent Warma of Oklahoma City, Okla., Eric Duane Warma of Moore, Oklahoma and Jamye Rochelle Webb of Plano, Texas; nine great-grandchildren: Richard Keith Baron of Austin, Texas, Philip Randall King of Garland, Texas, Taylor Scott Stinson of League City, Texas, Bryce Duane Warma of Moore, Okla., Jayson Robert King of Durant, Okla., Mia Rachel King of Aledo, Texas, Kambrea Shay Warma of Moore, Okla., Braden Thomas Warma of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Kelsey Rene’ Warma of Oklahoma City, Okla.
"Mo" as she was affectionately known to her family was a great lady in every sense of the word and will be greatly missed.
