Services for Georgia Stewart, 90, of Fittstown will be at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Stewart died Thursday, October 31, 2019 in Ada at an assisted living center.
Services for Georgia Jewel Stewart, 90, of Fittstown are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Danny Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, where she will join many loved ones. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Georgia passed peacefully at an assisted living facility in Ada. She previously resided at Fittstown since 1935. She was born in Pershing to William (Willie) and Vesta McElroy. She attended McLish School, where she was quite the basketball star and married the love of her life, Gerald Don Stewart, on Aug. 31, 1948, in Ada.
She was a teacher's aide for a number of years at Ahloso and Stonewall schools. Her husband was the principal of both schools. Gerald was an educator his whole life. Georgia's most important job was being a wife and mother.
She was a devoted Christian and a member of the Fittstown Church of Christ. She was loved by all who had the opportunity to know her.
Survivors include her devoted sister, Nancy McElroy Mayes of Grand Lake; two sisters-in-law, Lou McElroy of Ada and Beth McElroy of Duncan; a daughter-in-law, Laura Stewart Cox of Ada; her grandchildren, Scott and Quinn of Oklahoma City, Blake and Lane of Ada, and Ben Coffey of Durant; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Bruce and Brent; her brothers, Paul, Glenn, Kenneth and Charles (Buddy); and a sister, June Burch.
Bearers will be Marvin Mitchell, Robert Sanchez, Newman Hoben, Michael Hogue, Eddie McElroy and Derek Moore.
