Joyce went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 12, 2023, at Brookdale Assisted Living Center, where she was a resident the past 5 ½ years.
Joyce was born in Ada, OK on May 29, 1932, to Willis and Maggie Moran. She attended Ada schools and married the love of her life, William Dandridge (Bill) Simpson of Fitzhugh, OK on February 24, 1951. They were married for nearly 60 years, until his death in 2010.
Joyce and Bill were active members of Ada First Baptist Church. She worked as a librarian for Washington Elementary and later as a receptionist for Dr. Matthews, DDS. Her favorite job, of course, was serving as a devoted wife and mother to Bill and their 3 boys.
She was an excellent cook and baker of the most delicious pies. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday where her family learned to appreciate no less than 7 pies for dessert.
Joyce and Bill loved to fish, travel to Branson, and attend all of their grandchildren’s activities.
She was a source of love and inspiration to us all and she will be deeply missed by her family and all that knew her. She instilled in her children and grandchildren faith, family, hard work and doing what is right, no matter the consequences.
Survivors include her children: Ron of Colorado Springs, Rick and wife Ann of Edmond, Jamie and wife Melinda of Ada. Grandchildren: Zach Simpson, Rachel and husband David Pearson, Jessica and husband Caleb Story, Austin and wife Jude Simpson and 1 Great Grandchild, Luken James Simpson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Billy Simpson, Jr.; and two sisters, Floda Mae Hickey and Margie Moore.
The family would like to especially thank Brookdale Assisted Living and Humanity Hospice for their loving and devoted care of their mother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America in Memory of Joyce Simpson.
