Graveside services for Thurman Scates, 75, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, David Scates will officiate and the Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors.

Mr. Scates died Thursday, December 4, 2014 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born September 10, 1939 in Visalia, California to Sherman and Beulah Mae Tate Scates. He graduated from Latta High School.

He married Carolyn Deaton on February 8, 1970 in Hugo, Oklahoma. He was a veteran of the United States Army’s 9th Infantry serving during the Vietnam War era. He was a self-employed painter. Survivors include his wife Carolyn, of the home; two daughters, Jennifer Kay Chubinsky and her husband George of Phoenix, AZ and Robin Hansen of Ada; one brother, David Scates of Ada; one sister, Peggy Ayres of Ada; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul Scates.

Honorary bearers will be Foy Thornton and Henry Whitson.
