Services for Dexter Pruitt, 82, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. David L. Daniel will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Pruitt passed away Monday, March 28, 2016 at his home. He was born August 19, 1933 at Jasper, AR to Will and Bertha Myers Pruitt. He attended Ada schools.
He married Yvonne Ballard October 12, 1952. Mr. Pruitt owned and operated the Pruitt Company in Ada for 54 years.
Mr. Pruitt was a tireless civic worker who served on a number of boards including the Ada Chamber of Commerce Board, the Ada Industrial Development Corporation Board and the East Central University Foundation Board. He also served on the SOAR (Southern Oklahoma Addiction Recovery) Board and was a Director at the First United Bank.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne, of the home; two daughters, Tammy Prentice and her husband Mark of Ada and Sheri Pruitt and her husband, Steve Romero of Sacramento, CA; a sister, Nadine Baldwin of Ada; three grandchildren, Brian Dexter Pruitt of Tulsa, Kacie Maloy and husband Brett, Ada, and Charlie Prentice, Ada; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Ronnie Pruitt in 1985.
Bearers will be Mark Prentice, Steve Romero, Jim Park, Brett Maloy, Brian Pruitt and John Skaggs.
