Services for Oliver C. Parker, 93, Ada, are 2:00 Tuesday at Central Church of Christ, Leon Dennis and Bud Ross will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors.
Mr. Parker died Sunday, August 21, 2016 in Ada, OK. He was born July 2, 1923, to Luther Adrian and Dora Samantha Oliver Parker at Union Hill. He graduated from Vanoss High School where he played on the state baseball championship team. He attended East Central State College and graduated from Hill Business College. Mr. Parker was employed at the First National Bank and Trust Company of Ada from 1948-1988. He started the Trust Department and retired as Executive Vice President and Senior Trust Officer. He served on the Board of Directors until 2012. Mr. Parker was a member of The Kiwanis Club of Ada from 1949 to 2012, president of Oklahoma Banker’s Association Trust Division, Oklahoma Banker’s Association 50 year Banker Club, Jaycees and Community Chest. He enjoyed following and supporting Ada High, East Central, OU and later in life, OSU sports. Mr. Parker was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Ada. He served in the United States Army during World War II including the Battle of the Bulge, Battery A, 666th Field Artillery Battalion from July 1943 until March 1946.
He and Zelmadean “Z.D.” Woods were married March 14, 1953, at Fort Worth, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Zelmadean, of the home; two daughters, Patti Hager and husband John, of Edmond, and Vicki Patton, of Ada; and two grandsons, Parker Patton, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Payton Patton, of Guymon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Tommie Parker Henry; nephew, Glen Henry; and niece, Gayle Henry Wright.
Bearers are Jim Wright, Scott Wright, Jason Henry, Bill Nelson, Jim Hamby and Henry Katz. Honorary bearers are Brent Wright, Steve Gann, Philip Johnston, Lee West, Keywood Deese and Tom Criswell.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Alzheimer’s Research, 825 NE 13th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104-5097.
