Services for MSgt. Billy G. Painter, Sr., 88, of Ada are 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Bro. Matt Wyatt and Jay Dee Thys will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Painter passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 at an Ada hospital. He was born May 12, 1930 at Roff to Hubert L. and Willie A. (Hulsey) Painter. He attended grade school at Irving, Hayes and Homer and graduated from Byng High School in 1949.

He married Margaret J. Love January 16, 1954 in Oklahoma City. She preceded him in death after 52 years of marriage on November 2, 2006. Mr. Painter worked in industrial construction and a dairy farm. He had served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and for 39 years in the Army Reserve. Mr. Painter was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion Post 72 and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his children, Bill Painter, Jr. and wife Janet of Ada, Debbie Abel and husband Glenn of Wewoka and David Painter and wife Debbie of Ada; his grandchildren, Chris Painter, Stillwater, Matt Abel and wife Lyndsey, Wewoka, Michelle Smith and husband Derek, Wewoka, Micah Abel and wife Kim, Wewoka, Austin Painter, Claremore and Jessica West and husband Derek , Ada; nine very loved great-grandchildren, Maggie, Hunter, Canaan, Isley, Daxon, Kallie, Ethan, Sonny and Addie; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and four siblings, Elvis Painter, Mildred Cavener and husband Ed, Jim Painter and R. L. Painter.

Bearers will be his grandsons. Honorary bearers will be the Men of New
