Nadine Elizabeth Owens August 5, 1935 - May 31, 2024 © Criswell Funeral Home Submitted by: Sandy Bain
Nadine Elizabeth Owens, age 88, passed away on May 31st 2024. She was a beloved mother, granny, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Nadine was born on August 5, 1935 in Ada, OK at the Breco Hospital, she lived in the Ada area most of her life, beginning at Fike's Y, a store her father owned throughout her early years. She shared fond memories of growing up in this area. On October 6, 1952 she married Johnny Buck Owens. They traveled with his work from time to time, living in Phoenix, AZ, surrounded by family and friends, was a favored memory.
More than anything, Nadine was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her girls, she was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced. More than anything, she taught them the true meaning of unconditional love.
She loved sharing stories, doing crossword puzzles, and watching Andy Griffith and her other favorite TV shows. Nadine loved to travel, she experienced many different destinations all over the United States. Her husband was a member of the Chickasaw Nation so for many years she spent numerous amounts of time at the Chickasaw Senior Citizen Building where she and Buck were nominated for Valentine King & Queen more than once. She would help with taco sales, go on trips, and was part of the Chickasaw Cats dance team. Nadine loved to boogie! She and Buck were members of the Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church in Ada.
Nadine is survived by her daughter, Shawnda Russell, Ada, son in law, Jimmy Russell, Ada, granddaughter Ashley Russell-Haney, Ada, and grandson-in-law, Martin Haney, Ada, grandson John Harley Johnson, Shreveport, LA, niece Carol Franklin, Pink, OK, whom she considered her very best friend, and three more great-grandchildren in Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Lynn Owens, a daughter, Vickie Michelle Owens, husband, Johnny Buck Owens, grandson Alvie DeWayne Johnson, and many other loved ones. We take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her children in heaven, what a glorious day for her!
Nadine was over the moon for the arrival of her great-grandson, Ryder Haney, this September. Even though she won't be here physically, we know she will watch over him all the days of his life.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held for family and close friends at Memorial Park Cemetery on Thursday, June 6th at 2pm.
